Coach Hire in Verona with Driver

Verona's coach rules are compact. One pass for the day, two places to park, and set-down stalls where the stop lasts minutes. Checks on coach passes were stepped up from 1 October 2026, so the paperwork is worth getting right.

The PASS ZTL Bus

AMT3 runs the coach zone for the city. A pass runs out at midnight on the day it is used, and once bought its date is fixed, so buy it only when the day is certain. It goes on the dashboard as a printed PDF or a machine receipt, and exempt coaches display theirs too.

It is sold online or at three machines at the city entrances: on Via Unità d'Italia, on Viale del Lavoro opposite the Fiera, and at car park C of the stadium. Reduced and free passes, for hotel groups or school trips, are online only and must be bought by 23:59 the day before.

Two places to park

Inside the zone a coach may park only at the Terminal Bus Parcheggio Centro (Via Campo Marzo), staffed day and night, or at the Stadio C car park on Via Sogare. Setting down at the Centro terminal is charged too, for up to 15 minutes. School groups from Verona and its province can use Stadio C free of charge if they bring a school letter.

Elsewhere the coach uses the set-down stalls along the permitted route, for 5 to 15 minutes depending on the zone. From there the group walks to the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe and Juliet's house.

Coach rules in Verona that shape the day

  • Aeroporto di Verona "Valerio Catullo" (VRN, Villafranca) is about 18 km by road from Piazza Bra, about 35 min by coach in light traffic. Venezia Marco Polo (VCE) is about 127 km (about 1 h 50 min) and Milan Bergamo (BGY) is about 118 km (about 1 h 40 min). Journeys take longer at peak times.
  • Tourist coaches need a PASS ZTL Bus to drive in the ZTL Bus of the City of Verona; the scheme is run by AMT3. The pass is valid until 24:00 on the day of entry, cannot have its date changed after purchase, and must be displayed (the printed PDF or the machine receipt) on the dashboard, also by exempt coaches. Checks are made at random.
  • The pass is sold online or at the machines at the city entrances: parking meter 1007 on Via Unità d'Italia (opposite no. 288), automatic cashier 1 on Viale del Lavoro opposite the "San Zeno" entrance of the Fiera, and automatic cashier 2 at car park "C" of the stadium. Reduced and free passes (for example hotel groups and school trips) are sold only online, by 23:59 of the day before travel; hotel-pass coaches also display the hotel voucher.
  • Coaches may not park inside the ZTL Bus except at two areas: the Terminal Bus Parcheggio "Centro" on Via Campo Marzo (staffed 24 hours; setting down there is also charged, maximum 15 minutes) and the coach car park "Stadio C" on Via Sogare near no. 9 (school groups from Verona and its province park free there with a letter from the school).
  • Coach set-down stalls are along the permitted coach route near the sights; stops there are free and allowed for 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the zone, for passengers to get on and off.
  • Verona Porta Nuova is the main railway station, on the Milano-Venezia high-speed line and the Brennero line to Austria.
  • Under Article 142(3)(f) of the Codice della Strada (D.Lgs. 285/1992), buses and coaches with a maximum laden mass over 8 tonnes may drive at up to 100 km/h on motorways (autostrade) and up to 80 km/h on other roads outside built-up areas. Lower signed limits always apply.
  • Under Article 172(6) of the Codice della Strada, every occupant over three years old of a minibus or coach (vehicle categories M2 and M3) must wear the seat belt fitted to their seat while seated; passengers must be informed of this by signs or pictograms at each seat (Article 172(7)).
  • EU drivers' hours rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) apply to coach drivers: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving and at least 11 hours of daily rest, recorded by the tachograph.
  • Most Italian motorways (autostrade) are tolled (pedaggio): the toll is paid at the toll stations or by electronic toll device, by vehicle class. Toll amounts are not given here.

Garda and the wine country

The Valpolicella vineyards take about 30 minutes to reach. On the lake, allow about 45 minutes for Bardolino and about 50 for Sirmione or Garda, and Malcesine, for the Monte Baldo cable car, about 1 h 30 min. Mantova is about 50 minutes, Venice about 1 h 45 min. A lake circuit with several stops makes a long day, so set the timetable with the driver's breaks in mind.

The Arena season

The Arena's summer opera festival runs from 11 June to 11 September 2027. Coaches cannot wait on Piazza Bra, so plan the evening pick-up at a set-down stall a short walk away, and agree it before the group goes in.

Questions organisers ask

How far is Verona's airport?

Verona Villafranca airport lies some 18 km from Piazza Bra; allow around 35 minutes by coach. Venice Marco Polo is about 1 h 50 min away and Milan Bergamo about 1 h 40 min.

Does Veronafiere have coach access?

The fairground is on Viale del Lavoro near the Verona Sud exit, and one of the pass machines stands opposite its San Zeno entrance. For Vinitaly days the operator agrees the set-down with the fair.

Is the pass checked?

Checks are made at random, and they have been stepped up since October 2026. A coach without a displayed pass, even an exempt one, is at risk.
