Minibus Rental Across Italy

Coach and Driver Hire for Group Trips in Italy

A full-size coach or a midi-coach with a driver, booked for a group travelling in Italy. You send the plan; a licensed partner operator supplies the vehicle and the driver, and you see the quote before anything is fixed.

A booking service, not a coach company

We take your plan to a partner operator, send you the quote and confirm the booking. The operator owns the coach, employs the driver and runs the day on the road.

In Italy, hiring a bus with a driver comes under Law 218/2003. The company needs an authorisation from the region where it has its registered office; it is valid across the country, and a certified copy travels on every coach registered under it. The driver holds a category D licence and the CQC driver qualification card.

Start with the coach, size down when it fits

Full-size coaches take about 49 to 57 people with the cases in the hold. A midi-coach, about 29 to 35 seats, copes better with hill towns. Minibuses carry 9 to 16. With nine seats or fewer, driver included, the vehicle is a car, hired as an NCC car under Law 21/1992.

Some roads choose the size for you. Buses longer than 10.36 m may not use the Amalfi Coast road (SS163), so a coast day needs a midi-coach or a minibus within the limit. The lakeside road from Como to Bellagio is closed to vehicles over 10.5 m; a full-size coach goes over the hills by the Valassina and the Ghisallo, about 40 km and about an hour.

Each city writes its own coach rules

No permit works nationwide. Rome runs three coach zones, with permits sold only online since January 2026. Florence treats its entire built-up area as a bus ZTL. Pisa sends every arriving coach to the Pietrasantina check point before anything else. Venice halts coaches at Piazzale Roma, the Tronchetto or Fusina, nowhere near San Marco.

Milan's Area C admits only certain buses, so the operator checks the vehicle's eligibility. Permits are usually tied to one vehicle, so they come once the coach is confirmed. The city pages give each scheme in full.

A long day: Rome to Pompeii

Pompeii is about 236 km from central Rome, about 3 h 15 min by coach in light traffic. The round trip is six and a half hours at the wheel before any traffic. EU rules cap driving at 9 hours a day, or 10 hours twice a week, and a break is due after every 4.5 hours, so the day fits with little to spare.

Many groups sleep in Naples instead, about 35 minutes from Pompeii. Buses over 8 t may not exceed 100 km/h on motorways, so a coach is slower than a car. The driver's alcohol limit is zero, so a wine stop is for the passengers only.

One quote per trip, no price list

The cost depends on the date, the hours, the distance, the permits and the vehicle, so there is no table of fares. The quote comes back in writing, and nothing is booked until you accept it.

Questions organisers ask

Can a trip start outside the cities listed here?

Yes. Send the pickup address. Trips can start anywhere in Italy, from a school car park to a hotel forecourt.

Do thirty people need a full-size coach?

Not always. A midi-coach of about 29 to 35 seats may do if the luggage fits; ask for both in the quote.

Do you arrange guides and entry tickets?

No. Book group entry with each site in advance. The coach plan is then built around those times.
