The coach area at arrivals

Since July 2026 gran turismo coaches stop and wait in their own area in the arrivals zone, signposted from the airport roads. Stopping and parking outside the marked areas are banned around the clock, and offending vehicles may be removed. The speed limit on the airport roads is 30 km/h.

As at several Italian airports, the engine must be off during stops and restarted 5 minutes or less before departure. Orio publishes no meeting point, so where the group gathers is for you and the operator to decide; tell the travellers before they fly.

No train yet

Work is under way on a rail link from Bergamo station, due by December 2026. It is not open, and until it is the airport has no station. Meanwhile the number 1 city bus reaches Bergamo station in around 10 minutes. For a group, the coach is the direct option.

Where the coach meets the group

• Under ENAC Ordinance 2/2026 (Bergamo), in force since 4 July 2026, gran turismo coaches stop and wait in their dedicated area in the arrivals zone, as signposted. NCC (cars with driver) set passengers down at 2 dedicated bays near the entrance to the limited-traffic zone (ZTL) and wait for clients in areas set aside in car parks P1 and P2; loading passengers anywhere else is forbidden. The airport publishes no group meeting point: agree it with the operator when booking.

Coach parking and waiting

• Stopping and parking are forbidden around the clock outside the marked areas, and vehicles may be removed. Engines must not idle during long stops; buses switch off on arrival and start up no more than 5 minutes before departure. The Kiss & Fly area inside short-stay car park P1 is free for cars for up to 10 minutes; car park P1 EST gives at least 30 minutes free (both up to three entries a day). The speed limit on the airport roads is 30 km/h.

By road to the city centre

• about 56 km by road to Piazza del Duomo, in the centre of Milano, about 1 h 10 min in light traffic; longer at peak times

Where the coach goes next

The upper town, Città Alta, is only some 8 km off, roughly 20 minutes. Milan's Duomo is about 56 km, around 1 h 10 min, more at rush hour, and Area C in the centre takes only Euro VI buses on weekdays. Desenzano del Garda is some 80 km, roughly 1 h 10 min; Verona about 118 km, around 1 h 40 min; Como about 81 km, around 1 h 35 min.

Early flights and long days

Low-cost flights often leave early. For a dawn departure from a Milan hotel, work back from check-in: over an hour on the road, then time to unload. If the same coach worked late the evening before, remember the driver needs at least 11 hours of daily rest, and the operator plans around it.

Questions organisers ask

Is there a train to Bergamo airport?

Not yet. The rail link is under construction and due by December 2026. Bus line 1 links the airport with Bergamo station meanwhile.

Can a car with driver pick us up?

Yes. NCC cars drop clients at a pair of bays by the ZTL entrance and wait for them in car parks P1 and P2.

Are there scheduled coaches?

Yes. Brescia, Verona, Desenzano and Milano Centrale all have scheduled coaches from the terminal. A hired coach suits a group that wants its own timetable.
