The coach park has moved

The airport has one terminal, on the mainland at Tessera. Its coach park, P-BUS, is temporarily housed in the Sosta Breve car park facing the terminal, because works for the new rail link took its old place. Cameras read number plates at the entry and exit, and stops are charged.

The road layout changes in phases while the rail link is built, so the operator checks the current route in the days before arrival. No group meeting point is published here; choose one at booking, ideally in the arrivals hall where people can gather with their bags.

Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto or Mestre

Coaches never reach San Marco. For a hotel in the historic city, the coach sets down at Piazzale Roma or the Tronchetto, around 25 minutes from the airport in light traffic, and everyone continues on foot or by water. Suitcases go the same way, so ask the hotel how its guests usually bring luggage in.

The coach ZTL stretches over nearly all of the municipality, Mestre too, and a tourist coach needs a pass from AVM, the company appointed by the city. No pass is needed on the Mestre bypass or on the road from there to the airport. Tell the operator whether the hotel is in the historic city, on the Lido or on the mainland.

Where the coach meets the group

• The airport has a coach park (P-BUS). Because of the works for the new railway link, ENAC Ordinance 6/2024 moved it temporarily inside the short-stay car park ('Sosta Breve') in front of the terminal, with its own number-plate cameras at the entry and exit of the controlled-traffic zone. Since 1 July 2026 cars with driver (NCC) have five waiting areas instead of one (the arrivals and departures lanes, the short-stay car park and car parks P1, P4 and P5), with a waiting time of up to 60 minutes. The airport publishes no group meeting point: agree it with the operator when booking.

Coach parking and waiting

• Charges apply in the coach park and the NCC areas. The road layout around the terminal changes in phases while the railway link is built (ENAC Ordinances 4/2025 and 10/2025), so the operator checks the current access route.

By road to the city centre

• about 15 km by road to Piazzale Roma, the road terminus of Venezia, about 25 min in light traffic; longer at peak times

Coach or water bus

Express buses to Piazzale Roma and Mestre leave from outside exit 3, and water-bus services run from the airport dock into the lagoon. The rail link is not open yet. For a school group or a choir with instruments, one coach to Piazzale Roma keeps everyone together.

Heading inland

Not every Venice arrival stays in Venice. Treviso is about 29 km from the airport, around 35 minutes; Verona about 127 km, around 1 h 50 min. Day visitors to the historic city may also owe the access fee on set days, and the 2027 calendar has not been published.

Questions organisers ask

Can the coach take us to a hotel in Venice?

Not in the historic city. The road ends at Piazzale Roma and the Tronchetto, and that is where coaches set down. Hotels in Mestre and elsewhere on the mainland can be reached by road.

How long can a coach wait at the Tronchetto?

It is a short-stop area, and the time allowed was extended as a trial in 2026, so the operator confirms the current limit. Long stays use paid private coach parks.

Does a small party need a coach?

No. Since July 2026 NCC cars can wait in any of five areas at the airport, for up to 60 minutes.
