Turin Coach Hire for Organised Trips
Turin has no tourist-coach permit or coach ticket like Rome, Florence or Venice. What it has is a central limited-traffic zone watched by cameras, so the planning work is the route and the set-down point, which the operator fixes for the vehicle booked.
The ZTL Centrale
The Museo Egizio, the Mole Antonelliana and the Musei Reali are all within the ZTL Centrale. Its permits come from the City's ZTL office, and camera gates enforce it. The operator checks the zone's rules for your coach and chooses where the group gets off, then where the coach waits.
The city sometimes suspends the zone in high summer, but the dates are set each year. Plan as if it is in force.

Museums and timed entry
For the Egyptian Museum and the Cinema Museum in the Mole, book group entry in advance with each one and set the coach times to match the slots. The Lingotto, south of the centre, holds fairs and congresses and is on Metro line 1.

Coach rules in Turin that shape the day
- Aeroporto di Torino "Sandro Pertini" (TRN, Caselle) is about 18 km by road from Piazza Castello, about 30 min by coach in light traffic; Milano Malpensa (MXP) is about 137 km, about 2 h. Journeys take longer at peak times.
- Torino has a central limited-traffic zone (ZTL Centrale) controlled by camera gates, with permits issued by the City's ZTL permits office. No dedicated tourist-coach permit or coach-ticket scheme like those of Roma, Firenze or Venezia was found on the City's site; the operator plans the route and the set-down point and checks the ZTL rules for the vehicle booked.
- The ZTL and paid street parking were suspended in summer 2026 from 10 to 23 August; such suspensions are set each year.
- Torino Porta Nuova and Torino Porta Susa are the main railway stations, with high-speed trains to Milano, Bologna, Firenze, Roma and Napoli.
- Under Article 142(3)(f) of the Codice della Strada (D.Lgs. 285/1992), buses and coaches with a maximum laden mass over 8 tonnes may drive at up to 100 km/h on motorways (autostrade) and up to 80 km/h on other roads outside built-up areas. Lower signed limits always apply.
- Under Article 172(6) of the Codice della Strada, every occupant over three years old of a minibus or coach (vehicle categories M2 and M3) must wear the seat belt fitted to their seat while seated; passengers must be informed of this by signs or pictograms at each seat (Article 172(7)).
- EU drivers' hours rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) apply to coach drivers: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving and at least 11 hours of daily rest, recorded by the tachograph.
- Most Italian motorways (autostrade) are tolled (pedaggio): the toll is paid at the toll stations or by electronic toll device, by vehicle class. Toll amounts are not given here.
Royal palaces and the hills
The Reggia di Venaria Reale and the hunting lodge at Stupinigi are each about 25 minutes away, and the Basilica di Superga about 30, with the rack railway as an option from Sassi. The Sacra di San Michele is about 1 h 5 min.
For wine, Alba and Barolo in the Langhe are each a little over an hour. The driver may not drink at all, under the zero-alcohol rule for professional drivers, which suits a tasting day.
Mountains and other cities
Allow about 1 h 50 min to Aosta and 1 h 55 min to Sestriere. Milan is about 2 h 10 min and Genoa about 2 h 30 min. Mountain roads may require winter tyres or chains by ordinance, so ask about the vehicle's equipment for a winter trip.
Questions organisers ask
Which airport is closest?
Turin Caselle airport lies some 18 km from Piazza Castello; the coach takes around 30 minutes. Milan Malpensa is about 137 km, around 2 h.
Can a coach collect a group at the stations?
Porta Nuova and Porta Susa are the main stations. No coach stop is published at either, so the operator agrees the pick-up point when the trip is booked.
How do we reach the ATP Finals or a match?
The Inalpi Arena stands next to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino in the south of the city; the Allianz Stadium is in the north-west. Agree the pick-up spot before the event, as roads around the venues fill up.
